All Stories

You are invited to a special evening of Shakespeare scene readings! Join us at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in Hedberg Library 217A. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Anyone attending is invited to read scenes from Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale,” a play from later in his career about love, jealousy, and exiting pursued by a bear (yes, this is where that famous stage direction comes from!)! We’ll provide attendees with a selection of some of the most powerful and funny scenes in the play, and faculty and students will read together!

This event is open to all students, faculty, and staff. The night will help us kick off activities for the English Players this year. This will also act as a great preview for one of the plays the Stratford Festival is putting on in the fall (they’re doing “Macbeth,” “Winter’s Tale,” and other awesome plays) for anyone interested in going on the trip with us next school year!

Folks interested in performing with the English Players this year or thinking about the Stratford Trip are encouraged to attend, but this new event is open to anyone (regardless of your plans or your past experience with Shakespeare!).

Come one, come all, as we say to the J-Term from the cusp of the spring (semester): “thou met’st with things dying, I with things newborn!”
